Mount Horeb High School, 305 S 8th St, Mt Horeb, WI 53572, USA
About the event
MHHS Bandroom (Enter Door #8).
PFLAG Mount Horeb will be hosting a community gathering of local folks and friends who would like to examine the music and the controversy surrounding the piece of music A Mother of a Revolution by Omar Thomas. You probably recognize this from the news around Watertown, WI where their school board denied the student musicians the opportunity to play this piece at their spring concert due to the fact that the piece was composed in honor of Marsha P. Johnson a transgender activist. The evening is an answer to many Mount Horeb High School musicians who said, “We have to do something.” There will be an open rehearsal of the work and an opportunity for discussion. You can participate as a playing musician or an interested observer. The event is free although registration is required. Registration link for the event.
