About the event
Ginny Mikita (she/her) is an attorney (graduate of Notre Dame Law School in 1991) in Michigan with a heart for those whose voices have been silenced: the LGBTQ+ community, animals, refugee orphans and incapacitated adults.
Two years ago, GInny had the privilege of representing her beautiful nine-year old niece in her legal name change proceeding. Since then, she has had the opportunity to provide pro bono representation to close to 100 transgender and non-binary clients seeking to change their legal names. As best she can, she transforms the process leading up to and day-of court hearings are into sacred journeys and ceremonies.
Ginny has been married to her husband and legal partner, Bob Kruse, for 26 years. They have two children - a 24 year old son, Spencer, who lives in LA and is an aspiring actor, and a 20 year old daughter, Greta, who is a junior at the University of Michigan and is currently dating a trans young man.
Ginny's Offering:
Join us as Ginny shares how her legal career has led her to this place as well as heartwarming and sometimes painful stories from recent years. She prefers this to be an informal presentation and welcomes questions and discussion throughout our time together. Ginny will speak from 6-7 PM. The remaining hour is for sharing/support.
