About the event
Toby Louther (they/them) will be speaking to PFLAG Mount Horeb Area about their identity as a gender neutral/genderless person both past and present. Toby was Co-President of the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) at Mount Horeb High School and organized a reading of the book “I Am Jazz” at the flagpole in response to a hate group threatening to sue the school district and teachers if the book was read. This action led to the group receiving several awards for Intellectual Freedom from both the state and National Association of Teachers Of English, as well as GSAFE’s Judi Devereux Community Activist Award in 2016. Toby has had the experience of attending high school in both Mount Horeb and at an alternative high school in Madison and will also reflect on these experiences and share what our community can do to better support our LGBTQ+ youth.
Toby will speak from 6-7 PM. After a short break, the remaining time will be used for sharing/support. This event is free and open to the public but you must sign up in advance.
